SOLUTIONS: automotive & industrial noise reduction
The "Shannon" acoustic duct reduces the noise level of air being drawn into the air intake system, especially noise generated at the intake orifice. Parameters of the hose construction can be varied to achieve the ideal compromise between orifice and radiated noise.
Thanks to the porosity of the hose wall there are few standing waves in a porous hose and resonances of axial modes are attenuated. The porous hose has a major benefit over rigid ducts and allows for the design of long lengths between air cleaner and intake orifice without creating strong axial resonances.
The Shannon acoustic duct offers the design engineer a more compact solution to meet NVH targets and tight under bonnet constraints. It can be manufactured in complex shapes and ensures good decoupling between engine and chassis. |
